id name of primary key

I have a question. In this question, id means like primary key of User table in Laraship. In Laraship, when developer makes new table, does id name have to be 'id'? Or can id name change like 'book_id"? If it can change, which php file in skelton module do I modify when below message shows. "DataTables warning: table id=BooksDataTable - Requested unknown parameter 'book_id' for row 0, column 0. For more information about this error, please see http://datatables.net/tn/4". This message shows at data list page(index.blade.php).
