Custom Field Date

Hi, I am using the custom field date for ecommerce product, after i input the date field, it is stored as yyyy-mm-dd hh:mm:ss with the time 00:00:00. can we set the time as well? i dont find the method so can you please advise how?

Currently its date only, I ran this into development team and they are happy to add it to the backlog
